Generally, if both processors use duplicate socket arrangement -- in this covering, both use Socket A (462) -- they'll both work in a motherboard that features that socket. However, other aspects of the motherboard design may preclude the use of a more advanced processor.



Best bet: check the manufacturer's website and look at the specs for the specific motherboard. Or email them and ask if the newer processor will work surrounded by your current motherboard.
